Agile is taking the software development world by storm. Forrester says 56% of IT shops are now using Agile methodologies, and Gartner estimates that number at 80% by 2012. What does that mean for project managers? Could you lead an Agile project? Do you know how to use Agile techniques? Do you understand Agile roles? Can you incorporate Agile into your current processes or even lead an Agile transformation for your organization?
As Greg Balestrero, PMI President and CEO, mentioned in the PMI’s Blog “On the Threshold of Agility” – “I recently attended the Scrum Alliance gathering…to dispel the myths that surround the PMBOK® Guide and Agile practice. There is a widely held opinion that the PMBOK® Guide and Agile don't mix...It surprised me that such an opinion was held since the PMBOK® Guide - 4th Edition recognizes Agile in several areas…There is no question that Agile PM is a leading and emergent practice…critical to understand" (http://bit.ly/HLFcZ).
